    1. Why is it necessary to maintain a clearance between copper areas and the routing outline?

      Rating:

      If circuit paths (traces) or grounded areas are located too close to the outlines of the printed circuit board (PCB), the possibilities of shorts in the eventual product is significantly higher. Solder waves, which can leave tin residues on the outlines, as well as conductive casings can form undesired connections, or the applied solder mask can chip off the routed copper through mechanical load.

      The clearance maintained should be at least 0.3 mm on routed boards (PCB) and at least 0.5 mm on v-cut material.
