7. When is hard gold required?

   Hard gold is commonly required when switches or connector strips are exposed to an increased mechanical load, e.g. in a PCI card slot in a personal computer. In this case the connectors are hard gilded to increase abrasion resistance und to protect other contacts from corrosion.
