The following abbrevations are commonly used in international merchandising and contain information about terms of delivery:
Abbrevation Origin Description FOB Free On Board The merchandise is brought to the executing shipper. FOB-Hong Kong includes the delivery price to HK. Delivery costs from HK to the place of destination are not included. CIF Cost, Insurance and freight CIF = Transport to habour of destination ( FOB + insurance + freight + additional costs (e.g. customs duties + expenses) ) DDU Deliver Duty Unpaid The merchandise price does include transport costs to the place of destination, not any custom duties though DDP Delivery Duty Paid The merchandise price includes the transport costs to the place of destination and customs duties.
